Thank you for such a great web site!!!  I'm a cat sailor and look around for cat pages for the multi-hull perspective of cruising. I hope to devour your logs in the near future as work (argggg) permits.

Hi, we met you at the baths on Virgin Gorda, just found your card when I was cleaning out my beach bag.  Great web site, wonderful pictures.  We are first time live-aboards, however part-time. Are still in BVI but will return to Pittsburgh, Pa. for hurricane season, return to the Caribbean in Jan. Will keep checking the site, very enjoyable, photography is beautiful.  Have fun at the wedding ( we talked that day ).

Hello Donna. Thank you so much for your annual letter. Always enjoy your progress. All is well here. Weather is very cold here in the mountains (still snow everywhere!) and I am jealous of your great tan!! Really enjoyed the web site. It brought some warmth into this cold winter full moon night. Good sailing ... Jackie

I have enjoyed reading your journals about your travel experiences. I would never have found them but for the excellent article in the local newspaper this past Sunday about your circumnavigation. Since then, I have dominated the family laptop to read everything. Thank you for sharing your experiences. I got hooked tonight on Donna's journal about Bequia and later spent several hours searching for websites about that island. Please keep the journal entries current as time permits. Good luck on your travels and be safe.

I feel very different and would almost wanna be there when the water, the stars, the moon, the sunsets and the sunrises are compared with our beloved desert. I hope you do not have to much of that wild water around you when crossing the Atlantic Ocean. It will be memorable for sure, be safe and bring my dearest husband back. wife

Dear Dave, Donna, David and Sarah, We are hosting Tropical Storm/Hurricane Arlene today. Winds are 70-74 mph, and we really perversely want it to be a hurricane so we will have met our quota for the season. Too bad Exit Only isn't here, Arlene would take care of all that accumulated Sahara sand. Quantum is at the house and riding nicely so far. Bette is at Sea School getting her 100ton Captain's license. Since she is already the Admiral, the certificate may be not be necessary. We are still solid for a Jan. departure. When will you be back in the USA? Are you planning to come back to Ft. Lauderdale? Well the water is lapping the keyboard, so I better get this off. best regards to all, tom p.s. Wow, David and Sarah, I just got your story on-line and I'm kinda shocked. First, thank god you are all right. Yet, I wonder -- Here you are, blessed to be saved by the ravage that killed hundreds of thousands. People are amassing all over the world to help, Australia is paying for airfare for citizens to come help and you're considering your next destination? Would this be an amazing time to be humanitarians, delay your trip, GET OFF YOUR BOAT AND HELP THE WORLD? It is easy, perhaps, for me to question from half-way across the world with my boat on the hard. Yet, if I were there, I certainly would be lending a hand to the world wide humanitarian effort.

I heard about this website and your journey on WLEX tonight. After being inundated with stories of death and destruction, it was uplifting to hear a story of survival. I cannot imagine what it must be like to be in that area surrounded by so much suffering. It's a gift that your family was spared. Good luck in your future adventures. I've been reading your website and am fascinated. Your experiences over the past decade and in Thailand remind me of a quote I heard once. "The cure for anything is salt water. Have watched the news with avid heartache this past week, then saw your FOX News interview today...New Year's Day. I have been totally enjoying your maxingout.com website even tho' I feel like an eavesdropping voyeur....but privileged to be part of your very special adventure. God Bless you all. My two sons who are physicians in Florida are talking about volunteering services to those unbelievably anguished people....your website should inspire them. Best wishes and Happy New Year.

Dear Sarah I have followed your journey with great interest and I immediately thought of you when I heard about the tsunami last weekend. When I read that you were alright I sent this e-mail to a reporter at the Lexington Herald Leader. Karla Webb: Check this website maxingout.com. This is a Kentucky group who are sailing around the world on a 39 foot catamaran. Sarah Paasonen worked at Saint Joseph Hospital with me for several years and then graduated from UK as a physician assistant. One year later she joined her fiance David and his family on the sailboat Exit One. You can read Sarah and David's first hand account of the disaster as they had just sailed out of one of the islands of Thailand where the tsunami hit. If you have any questions call me. Thanks for taking the time to create such a fascinating web site. I found your site after seeing a lead-in to a CNN video story about a California couple who survived the tsunami. Apparently that story is about a different vessel. In any event, as a sailor, David's journal was especially enlightening as I would not have expected that the tsunami would pass your catamaran virtually unnoticed. I'm sorry that this portion of your continuing journey is marked by tragedy, and wish you all well on the remainder of your voyage.

Sarah, Greetings from Adelaide. My brother David O'R (doc) in Lexington told me of your adventures. As a way too serious sailor, I hope to help you if you head around the bottom of Downunder! I just did a 250 NM race in Gulf St Vincent and along Kangaroo Island then back to Adelaide at the weeknd - on a Whitbread 50 footer. We were fourth across the line in 32 hours - beaten best by 2 boats prepping for the Sydney to Hobart race this December. If you are in South Australia (land or sea) call me on 0414 882 505 and I will assist you in many ways. Dave and Cookie and the kids in KY tell me you are great to be around - so you and David give me a call or email. Best wishes, Mike O'Reilly

Ms P, The zen of a "maxingout" journey is just too obvious. I hope you will consider every day a journey, whether on land or on sea. "Everyone has their own light. If you want to see it you can't. The darkness is dark, dark. Now what is your light?" good luck. keep in touch.

Dear Dave and Donna, It was so nice to hear from you,and equally nice to view this great website.Keep up the good work. Thanks for all the excellent equipment tips.I have tried to find the "Bugle"Anchor and have drawn a blank.I did find lots on an anchor called the Bulwaaga anchor which looks like 3 triangular steel plates welded on a straight steel shaft by the 10th grade shop class. Is this the new miracle anchor? Why I believe I might even whip one of those up myself. take care, Tom
